Summary of the poem: Corona Says
The poem 'Corona Says' is written by a Nepali poet Vishnu S. Rai. The poem is based on the theme of the present world crisis Corona and it's devastating impact on human life. It is a great satire on man's conduct and attitude towards the nature.
In the poem, the speaker is Corona virus who asks human beings not to cry and curse it because it claims that it is the byproduct of man's treatment to nature. Corona says that human beings claim themselves as superior and intelligent being but their indifferent nature towards different living creatures proves that they are not intelligent but selfish being who are destroying the nature and killing the other living creatures for their personal benefits.
In the poem, the speaker also talks about the positive side of Corona in the earth. As human beings are enclosed in their house, the environment has become clean and fresh. The industries are closed, busy roads are calm, the atmosphere is healthy and clean. The earth has got the chance to rest. The speaker wants to make the human beings feel the pain and boredom of animals living in the cage. The speaker says that the earth is common home of all the animals and the creatures. It is not the private property of human beings. So, human beings must change their attitude towards the nature.
Finally the corona threatens human beings saying that it would go away from earth one day if human attitude and behaviour behaviour towards the nature and the other creatures do not change. Then, many other virus would come on the earth that would take the human civilization back to the cave age which their ancestors have endured.
